Vol. 4 #1 (January 1962) Hollywood Actor Don Defore Visits the Nissen Factory

1962 finds everyone at the Nissen Trampoline Company in a "full court press;"

promoting, selling, manufacturing and shipping out the new Nissen product line.

Hollywood actor and Cedar Rapids native, Don Defore stopped by to say hello and tour the new Nissen factory. Only two years apart in age, Don and my father knew each other well; both graduating from Washington High School and the University of Iowa. During the late 1940s Don starred in several movies (LINK to Don Defore page) but he was best known for his role as "Mister B" in the TV show "Hazel." (LINK to watch a Hazel TV episode).

Here are a few fun photos from last month's employee Christmas party...a tradition at Nissen's that everyone enjoyed. Comedy, music, good food and prizes... Santa always showed up! This year my father received a beautiful clock that showed the time anywhere in the world (no doubt, the perfect gift!). He stole the show however with his gift, a special thank you to the Nissen employee-family.
